What Are Your Targets?

Group Study Week 4 – Your Actions (Days 14-21)

Objective: To establish the funding needed, the stage you’re in, to set targets, and to make yourself accountable.

Your vision is most likely to have some financial implications. You need to come to grips with this. In addition, in order to know where you should focus your energy, you need to understand the stage that your vision is in. I recognize that some of you are already down the path of pursuing your vision. But, many of you are just beginning. That means you are in the ‘concept’ stage. You first want develop and test your idea. The idea should be reviewed with a number of people but especially those who will be engaged in, impacted by, or using your vision. You need proof of principle. And you need to know your next task.

To achieve your vision, it is critical to find someone to meet with regularly, to discuss the issues you are facing, and to be accountable to in some way. Otherwise your project is likely to drift.

4        Exercises:

4.1  Group leader gives opening thoughts.

4.2  Spend a few minutes on your own to answer the following questions:

·         Go back through your notebook and review the answers you have written for Days 14 to 21. What question was the most difficult to answer and why?

·         What is your worldview concerning money and God?

·         What funding do you need to kick-start your vision and keep it going; and where could the money come from?

·         What stage are you in?

·         What are the next major milestones, and the next actions you will take to make your vision happen and when?

·         Who will you meet with on a regular basis to review the progress of achieving your vision?

4.3  Break up into groups of two and share your answers. The other person will act as a consultant and confidant and will ask you questions about your answers to the above questions. Then reverse roles, spending between ten to fifteen minutes for each person.

4.4  Meet back in the larger group and share any insights you’ve gained.

·         What did you learn through this exercise?

·         Do the study group members have any advice or questions on the other members’ worldview on money, or where the funding will come from for their visions?

·         What ideas does the group have concerning accountability and information sharing?

4.5 During the following week work through Days 22 to 25 in this book.  Complete the ‘Vision Summary’ found in Chapter 25 and prepare to share it next week.
