What's Your Next Step?

Group Study Week 5 – Your Next Steps (Days 22-25)

Objective: To establish the actions and next steps needed to make your vision happen and to ground your vision in your faith.

It’s now time to take action. Think of a row of dominos: when you push over the first one, the others fall. The difficult thing in implementing a vision is to know what action to take first. But once that happens, you have momentum.

When you act it is a step of faith. Your vision should connect with your spirituality, that is, your view of God and how he interacts with the world he has created. You need to know the redemptive and transforming qualities in your vision. Also realize what this vision means to you personally.

Lastly, it is important to package all your ideas into a summary. Objective: To establish the actions and next steps needed to make your vision happen and to ground your vision in your faith.

5        Exercises:

5.1  Group leader gives opening thoughts.

5.2  Spend a few minutes on your own to answer the following questions:

·         Go back through your notebook and review the answers you have written for Days 22 to 25 What question was the most difficult to answer and why?

·         What are the next actions you will take to make your vision happen and when?

·         Does your vision fit both your general and distinctive calling?

·         How will you live your life with redemption and transformation in mind?

·         What are the redemptive and transformative qualities of your vision?

·         How does your faith apply to your vision journey and how do you expect your faith to grow?

·         What does this project truly mean to you personally, and what difference will it make in your life and the lives of others?

·         Review your vision summary to ensure you’ve covered the basics.

·         What is the first tangible action you will take to begin your project, and when?

5.3  Break up into groups of two and share your answers. The other person will act as a consultant and confidant and will ask you questions about your answers to the above questions. Then reverse roles, spending between ten to fifteen minutes for each person.

5.4  Meet back in the larger group and share any insights you’ve gained.

·         What did you learn through this exercise?

·         Go down through the questions under 5.2. What can you share with the rest of the group?

·         Do the study group members have any advice  or questions for the other members?

·         Is there anything the study group members can do to encourage and/or help other members in their vision-question (their journey of faith)?
